4th October – 25th October 2012
Harmonia Moraviae is an international music festival which, since its fifth year in 2004, has been held every September and October before the opening of the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra's concert season. Indeed, the Orchestra is the main organiser of this musical event, together with the Zlín Region and the Statutory City of Zlín. The festival, which began in 1999, always includes a number of symphonic, vocal-symphonic and chamber concerts bringing the Orchestra together with soloists, conductors, guest orchestras and chamber ensembles from both this country and abroad. Interspersed with the classical music concerts are other genres, both secular and spiritual.
The venues include concert halls and places of worship in Zlín itself and the wider region - Holešov, Vsetín, Uherské Hradiště, Kroměříž, and Štípa, to name but a few. In recent years the number of concerts and guest performers has grown, attracting such artistes as Gabriela Beňačková, Dagmar Pecková, Eva Urbanová, Magdalena Kožená, Iva Bittová, Zuzana Lapčíková, Wolfgang Saus, Sophia Jaffé, Jan Simon, and Ivan Ženatý. Among our guest conductors have been Petr Altrichter, Misha Katz, Andrea Marcon, Jakub Hrůša, and Vojtěch Spurný. Ensembles and orchestras have included Musica Florea, Boni Pueri, the Žilina State Chamber Orchestra, the Pardubice Chamber Philharmonia, Carpe Diem from France, the Czech Philharmonic Choir, the Czech Ensemble Baroque - Choir, the Radovan Tariška Sextet, Hradišťan, Schola Gregoriana Pragensis, and many more.
